EARTHSHINE
A Poetry Journal
Welcome to Earthshine. We are currently reading for Volume III.
Each poet has a voice; each poetry journal also has a voice. We seek illumination, compassion, universality, and reason. We welcome surprising perspectives, but we know these can come from anywhere. We seek poems we can be proud to publish and which we believe will generate their own light for our readers. If you would like to read a sample volume before submitting, please click on the order tab, above. As we accept poems, we will publish them here on the Earthshine web site. The volume will close when each is full. Once we have a full volume, we will print, and offer hard copies for purchase, and start the next volume online. Currently Volume I and Volume II are in hard copy and may be purchased.
There are poems everywhere: in parking lots, in forests, in the twilight, between molecules of water and in the Quick-stop on the corner of your street. If you find one, send it to us. Poems are the ultimate rumination, and if the world is to be saved, the poets will be needed--they who see the connections between all things, and the patterns shared. You don't think the world can be saved by words? By what, then?
Please include up to 6 poems per submission. We read up to two submissions per poet in one calendar year.
Email: Please send poems to poetry "at" earthshinepoetry.org (pasted into the email is preferred). We occasionally have our email responses bounce back to us. Please include with your email submission a land mail address, so we have a way to reach you if email doesn't work. When you submit by email, you will receive an acknowledgement. Please inquire if you do not receive the acknowledgment within a week.
Land Mail: We are committed to keeping the paper submission option open. Submissions may be mailed to Earthshine, P.O. Box 245, Hummelstown, Pa. 17036. Mailed submissions should include a stamped self-addressed envelope for response only (though we return poems on request).
Simultaneous submissions: We welcome simultaneous submissions, but please inform us immediately if you need to withdraw part or all of your submission. We try to review and respond to submissions within two months.
Art submissions: We are also interested in submission for cover art, especially that relating to earthshine, reflection, illumination and thought. One or two black and white drawings or photos will also be accepted for the inside of the journal. Please inquire before sending art.
Payment: Earthshine is funded by donations, which do not fully cover the costs of the journal. Poets and artists/photographers published in Earthshine will receive two copies of the printed journal when it is available. If we ever make any money, we will begin offering payment.
For information about the current status of the journal, please check the "news and updates" page.
